Navalia, the International Shipbuilding Exhibition, will take place in Vigo, Spain from 21st to 23rd of May 2024. Navalia is set to continue its legacy as a premier international maritime exhibition, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and professionals from around the globe. This biennial event serves as a vital platform for showcasing the latest advancements in maritime technology, products, and services. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge ship designs, propulsion systems, navigation equipment, and marine services, fostering business connections and collaborations that drive the maritime sector forward.
The LH2CRAFT project aims to revolutionize the storage and transportation of Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) for commercial vessels. With a focus on sustainability, commercial viability, and safety, the project seeks to develop an innovative membrane-type containment system for high-capacity LH2 storage at -253°C. The goal is to validate this system on a 10-ton (180 m³) prototype, with the potential for scaling up to 200,000 m³. By initiating safety and risk assessments early in the design process and achieving approval from major classification societies, LH2CRAFT aims to enable large-scale LH2 storage comparable to existing LNG carriers, while also providing a comprehensive life cycle model to assess environmental impacts and sustainability.
LH2CRAFT will showcase on Wednesday the 22nd of May at Navalia its ground-breaking work in LH2 storage and transportation with its participation in the Technical Symposium on “Solutions to the IMO-Marpol and EU Decarbonization Regulations in 2050: Impact on the Maritime Sector, Opportunities, and Challenges.” This symposium will address the industry’s response to decarbonization regulations, exploring the challenges and opportunities these regulations present. The presence of LH2CRAFT at Navalia 2024 highlights the project’s contributions to advancing maritime technology and sustainability, aligning with the exhibition’s mission to promote industry growth and global collaboration. Attendees can engage with project representatives, including partner Antonio José Llago Hermida, CEO of Grupo Gabadi, and Alexandros Giannakis, senior engineer representing the coordinator of our project, HYDRUS, and explore cutting-edge solutions that LH2CRAFT brings to the future of maritime transportation.
