Testing and Assessment Requirements for the LH2 Cargo Containment System (progress update)

Taking into consideration the proposed conceptual design of the CCS of the LH2 carrier and the materials that will form the barriers and the insulation layers, an initial extensive draft of the required material testing procedures has been prepared in Task 2.5. The list consists of international standard test methods for the subject materials and the expected loads acting on them during operation, with special consideration given in testing under cryogenic conditions, as well as general standards that set the requirements for the storage and handling of H in both liquid or gas phases. The final outcome of this Task will be based on feasibility, availability of apparatus, cost etc. of conducting such tests under the specified conditions, as well as the availability of already obtained results from literature, and will serve as input to various tasks across different work packages within the LH2CRAFT project.
