In the LH2CRAFT project, HYDRUS Engineering serves a dual role—as project coordinator and key technical partner. As coordinator, HYDRUS ensures the smooth execution of the project and compliance with European Commission requirements. As an engineering partner, the company applies its expertise in ship design and auxiliary system development to deliver innovative, safe, and commercially attractive solutions for the long-term storage and transportation of liquid hydrogen (LH₂).
HYDRUS is specifically engaged in:
- Coordinating the project management and administrative framework
- Leading activities in Work Package 4 (ship design) and Work Package 5 (auxiliary systems design)
- Conducting alternative design desktop studies
- Developing the handling, distribution, and monitoring subsystems from conceptual to detailed design
- Supporting the effort to obtain Approval in Principle (AiP) from ABS for LH₂ as cargo
Through these contributions, HYDRUS advances the LH2CRAFT objective of creating a next-generation, sustainable containment technology that can enable the safe, efficient, and scalable deployment of LH₂-powered vessels globally.
