LH2CRAFT was presented at the 1st Marine & Fisheries Science and Technology Innovation Forum 2026, hosted by KIMST, which brought together 841 Korean scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and maritime stakeholders to discuss the future of sustainable marine technology.
During the forum, Dr Injun Yang from the University of Strathclyde delivered a presentation on “Safety trends of alternative-fuel ships and implications for Arctic shipping”, highlighting the safety challenges that must be addressed as the maritime sector transitions towards cleaner fuels.
The presentation included insights from several EU-funded projects, including LH2CRAFT, and opened discussion on key topics such as alternative-fuel ship safety, Arctic routes, ice-breaking vessel design, and the importance of robust QRA and CFD methodologies for assessing risks in extreme operating conditions.
For LH2CRAFT, this was a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the project’s work on safe and sustainable liquid hydrogen solutions for maritime applications, supporting the wider transition towards zero-emission shipping.
A warm thank you to Dr Injun Yang for presenting this important work, and to KIMST, the speakers, and all participants for the engaging exchange.
