The 77th IIW Annual Assembly and International Conference on Welding and Joining was held from July 7 to July 12, 2024, in Rhodes, Greece. This prestigious event brought together leading experts from industry, academia, and research institutions to discuss the latest advancements in welding and joining technologies.
During this conference, the LH2CRAFT project was proudly presented, showcasing ground-breaking advancements in the safe and efficient marine transportation of liquid hydrogen (LH2). The event facilitated discussions among stakeholders from the maritime and energy sectors, focusing on innovative solutions for sustainable fuel transportation.
LH2CRAFT was represented by TWI, an integral member of the LH2CRAFT consortium, through its leading experts, Xiaofei Cui and Xing Sun. Their presentation, titled “Assessing the On-board Storage & Transportation of LH2 as a Fuel Applying the House of Quality,” provided an overview of the project’s aims and objectives. The presentation included a thorough explanation of the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) methodology used to align the project’s design with customer needs. Attendees gained insights into the House of Quality (HoQ) approach, aimed at inter-functional planning and communication.
The analysis of results highlighted the prioritization of functional features based on customer requirements, which will be considered in the project’s resource allocation. Furthermore, identified KPIs will be measured as criteria for performance management. The presentation underscored the project’s dedication to innovation, safety, and environmental sustainability, aligning with global efforts to transition towards cleaner energy sources.
The conference provided an opportunity to enhance the visibility and recognition of the LH2CRAFT project within the maritime and energy sectors, foster collaborations and discussions with key stakeholders, experts, and potential partners, and receive valuable feedback and insights to refine the project’s approach and implementation.
