Inspiring the Next Generation at Researcher’s Night: National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) Showcases the Future of Hydrogen Shipping

The School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) participated in this year’s European Researcher’s Night, engaging visitors with interactive exhibits and innovative insights into the future of sustainable maritime transport.

Within the framework of the EU-funded LH₂CRAFT project, the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) presented highlights from its ongoing work on material testing and offered a comprehensive overview of the design principles underpinning liquid hydrogen (LH₂) carrier vessels. The presentation provided visitors with a unique opportunity to understand how advanced engineering and emerging technologies contribute to the decarbonization of the maritime sector.

The exhibit generated significant interest and dialogue among students, researchers, and visitors, fostering discussion on the role of hydrogen technologies and innovative ship design in supporting Europe’s transition towards zero-emission shipping.

Many thanks to the organizers of the Researcher’s Night, our student volunteers, and all the visitors who brought curiosity, enthusiasm, and thought-provoking questions throughout the event.

National Technical University of Athens (NTUA)’s participation reflects the university’s enduring commitment to research excellence, innovation, and sustainability in marine engineering, and its mission to inspire and educate the next generation of engineers driving the transformation of the maritime industry.
