Deliverable D2.2, Disruptive Materials Designs and Technologies focuses on evaluating insulation materials for liquid hydrogen (LH2) storage and transport in maritime applications. The deliverable integrates Eco-Design principles, assessing thermal performance, environmental impact, economic viability, durability, and circularity, while addressing upgradability and repairability. It systematically reviews insulation solutions from sectors such as aerospace and develops a database of materials and a sustainability assessment framework. A digital decision-support tool was created to rank and select materials based on performance and sustainability criteria. Key outcomes include cross-sectoral innovations, a comprehensive insulation database, and tools to support sustainable design.
