This deliverable is structured into two distinct parts to address the alternative containment types and designs (Task 2.4) and the testing and assessment requirements (Task 2.5) for liquid hydrogen (LH2) cargo containment systems (CCS). The first part explores alternative containment types and designs through various dimensions, including classification of cargo containment systems, economic and technological boundaries, categorization of LH2 as both cargo and fuel, and a gap analysis for new and existing ships. The second part focuses on outlining the testing and assessment requirements for LH2 CCS, addressing testing standards and general requirements for hydrogen storage systems. The conclusions integrate insights from both parts, combining alternative design considerations with testing requirements to inform subsequent tasks.
