Led by NTUA, Task 3.3 focuses on the critical evaluation and testing of structural materials for the containment and storage system (CCS) of liquid hydrogen (LH2). As part of this effort, an evaluation plan is being developed to assess the compatibility of the proposed structural materials, which will form the barriers for the CCS of LH2. Considering the location of each barrier in the CCS and the primary load conditions they will face, representative tests will be conducted to assess material properties, following recommended testing procedures that are based on recognized international standards gathered from earlier task. Acceptance criteria will be applied in order to verify that the overall material behaviour is suitable for use under cryogenic conditions and in presence of H2. As the testing specifications and requirements are reviewed, the feasibility of conducting these tests across consortium partners is being discussed, with attention to identifying potential gaps and resolving any issues. In this process, screening methods and data availability of materials properties are also taken into account, either from literature or from the expertise and the databases of the consortium partners.
