The LH2CRAFT project is making significant progress with the development of its containment system concept (CCS). As part of Task 9.1, the concept will undergo a comprehensive review and evaluation by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and other key partners, such as RINA and the University of Strathclyde. The process will include the submission of a detailed documentation set, encompassing a full description of the containment system, relevant loading and design conditions, basic engineering drawings, and principles. Additionally, a Risk Assessment report and Hazard Register will be compiled to ensure all potential risks are accounted for and managed.
The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) will conduct a thorough review of these documents, incorporating feedback and addressing any identified issues or comments. Once this review is successfully completed, ABS will issue an Approval in Principle (AiP). Alongside the AiP, an approval roadmap will be developed, outlining the steps necessary for advancing the containment system to the next phase. This milestone is critical for ensuring the safe and sustainable application of liquid hydrogen technologies in maritime transport, as the project moves forward in its mission to transform the industry.
